renlovell.com v3.0 introduction

This is the first time I’ve added to my blog in a while, but if you’re intrested, here’s a breif history of my website: (or you can skip ahead to where I talk about the design)

-first hosted in August 2021 (first website version)

-updated to v2 in October-November 2021

-updated to v3 during August-November 2022.

Previous versions of the website and blog were lost due to issues I had with the backup files, so I decided to remake it from the ground up, including new animations and art. [shown is renlovell.com as of november 2022]

Design:

A lot of the themeing is inspired loosely off geocities and old fan websites, as I feel that most websites currently look almost too clean and sterile, so this version of my website was designed to kind of a spiritual successor to that style (a little jankey, but cool/unique).

Convieniently, this also fits in with the aestetic and style you can find in a lot of my writing, especially the library page, which is based off my WIP (work in progress) novel, Cute and Fractured, where I combine a lot of early internet stories/creepypastas, such as the red room and kisaragi station (my favourites) along with an attempt at introducing dark fantasy elements into a modern setting (in this case a fictional ward in Tokyo)

It’s not as direct as the library page, but home and contact pages are based off my Main project, The Sun Archive, with the contact page reflecting the climate/state of that world’s version of the internet (the datanets). Then the homepage is themed as: ‘slacking off/taking a break in the lab during the Lykonin project’. Hense the clone/ human experimentation tubes.

So yea, I’m still not sure how often I’ll add to the blog, between Uni and writing,  but I’ll try to add something at least once a month, even if it’s just another chapter.
